Summer Playground Program begins June 14th

The Montford Community Center’s Summer Playground Program for rising first to fifth graders takes place from June 14-August 12, 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to lead workshops for the program.

Hot August Night 5K – August 21st

The Hot August Night 5K Race through the Montford Historic District is scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 7:00 p.m. Register at www.active.com or call Kim Kennedy at 253-3714 for a form.

Montford Music and Arts Festival, Saturday, May 22

This festival promises to be the best one yet. We’re expanding the site this year (see “Street Closings” on page 3) to make more room for a full day of family fun. Montford Festival Schedule: Onstage and Up and Down the Avenue

We’re really excited about this year’s music, which has roots in many nations. As always, every act has direct ties to Montford with either a current or a former neighbor in the band. The neighborhood’s deep and diverse musical roots are on full display this year. Last year, we completely reworked the line-up in response to requests to broaden the mix. Street Closings for the Montford Festival

To make the festival safer, provide more booth space, and give everybody more elbow room, more streets need to close this year. Montford Avenue will close to vehicle traffic from Cullowhee all the way down to West Waneta. East Waneta and Soco Streets will also be closed. These streets will close at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, and reopen by 8:00 that evening. [... click heading to read more]

Art Without Borders—Fundraising Concert for New Multi-Disciplinary Community Art and Technology Center

Saturday, June 5, Odyssey Community School, 90 Zillicoa Street. Reception at 6:30 p.m., concert at 7:30 p.m. Performers include Free Planet Radio, Billy Jonas, Kat Williams, River Guerguerian, and other local musicians.
