Your poor Montford hummingbird banner has been through so much—sun bleaching summers with no rain in sight, mildew-ridden summers with no chance of sun for weeks, snow, icicles, bitter winds that make the banner stand parallel to the ground. Then there are the birds who sit atop your banner. And let’s not forget wear and tear from the washing machine.

Who Designed it?

Dana Irwin, the designer who created the Montford acorn logo, has come up with this cool Arts and Crafts-style design reflecting the acorn theme.

What does 1893 signify?

The banner shows the date 1893, the year Montford was recognized and incorporated by the North Carolina state legislature.  You can read more about the early history of the neighborhood in Joe Newman’s article, by clicking here.
