Kim Kennedy, Center Director
Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy the annual Montford Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3. Almost 100 youth attended the event this year. Thanks to the Montford Neighborhood Association and the Asheville Police Department for sponsoring this event.
The Montford Playground Program is a great place for your child to have some fun this summer. The program meets weekdays, June 14-August 12, 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and provides a full day of activities for your rising first-fifth grade child. Preregistration is required, so don’t wait. This program will fill up quickly.
We are looking for volunteers to lead workshops for our summer program. Themes could include but are not limited to photography, calligraphy, writing, sports of all kinds, model rockets, dance, music, and more. Almost any interest can become a workshop! We are willing to help make your workshop kid friendly. Investing in our youth is a great way to support your community.
Other activities at the Montford Community Center:
- Free open gym time for youth and families, Mondays and Fridays, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
- Eco-Explorers: Three-day camp with environmental education focus for ages 6-8. Call Christen at 251-4029 for registration information.
- Tiny Tots Adventure Program for youth four and under and their parents, Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Am interested in table tennis. I was playing at Harvest House but reached a plateau in my game. The ladies there suggested I check out Montford to learn to put a spin on the ball. Please advise.
I noticed that there was a table tennis event happening this past Tuesday evening at the Montford Community Center. Try contacting the Montford Community Center for more details about this at: 253-3714 or send email to montfordr@ashevillenc.gov.
