I’m excited to share with you the progress we are making on donations for the Reed Creek Greenway Project. At this point, we have collected over $4,000 in individual donations. We sincerely thank everyone who has made a contribution. Our donors’ names are listed at the end of this article.
Two-Thirds of the Initial Goal
The Montford Neighborhood Association is challenging all area residents and businesses to contribute to the completion of the Reed Creek Greenway between Catawba Street and W.T. Weaver Boulevard, the precious “missing link” that has been sitting in disarray for the last three years.
The MNA is committed to matching $6,000 of donations. In a little more than a month, we are over two-thirds of the way to this initial goal.
Impressive Progress at the Site
If you haven’t seen what UNCA is doing with the site around the greenway—and what Montford neighbors and UNCA students, faculty, and staff accomplished together during the March 31 Community Work Day—please stop by. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much work is being done to clean up the site and make it more visually appealing to those who walk or drive by or live in the immediate vicinity.
Clearly, UNCA will be a great neighbor for the greenway and for all of Montford.
How to Contribute
To donate to the greenway completion project, simply go to our website www.montford.org. By clicking on the RiverLink button on the left, you can donate via credit card (PayPal). If you would prefer to mail a personal check, please make it payable to Wanda Newman, Treasurer, Montford Neighborhood Association, 28 Soco Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
We encourage donations in $50 increments (the cost of a linear foot of trail) if possible. RiverLink will send you a Deed of Support for your contribution.
